The Eddie Duffy and Mick Hoy Traditional Music Festival brought a great weekend of live music to Derrygonnelly. The secretary of the festival’s organising committee Michelle McGovern, who is also the granddaughter of Mick Hoy, said: “In my own opinion it went fantastically well and everything was well attended. The feedback from most people was that it was a really enjoyable well-run event and they can’t wait until next year.”

Sharing a highlight of the festival, Michelle said: “There was a dance off between two fellas on the main street that wasn’t even organised as part of the event which was the best of it. While The Slieve Gallion Ceili Band were playing, Tadgh Mulligan jumped up on to the stage and started to do a bit of dancing and then he called dancer Cuthbert Arutura up and the two of them had a dance off. It was just priceless.”

Following the festival’s success, Michelle was grateful to all those who helped make it happen: “I want to offer my sincere appreciation to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and our local business owners for their continued sponsorship and to my wonderful committee of volunteers for all the help and support and many hours of their valuable time that they pledged to the event. Having had time to reflect on the event now it was a great success and I hope I did Granda Mick and Eddie proud.”
