Birthday boy Andrew McFarland celebrated his 10th Birthday with a special party to provide toys and gifts to the Children’s Ward at the South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen.

Commenting on the generosity of Andrew's family, a spokeswoman for the Western Health and Social Care Trust (The Trust) said: "The Trust gratefully acknowledges a special delivery of toys and gifts to the Children’s Ward at the South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen from Graham and Joanne McFarland and family from Fintona and Trillick areas."

The toys that were gifted to the Children's Ward were purchased using money raised from donations in lieu of presents for Andrew's 10th birthday party which was attended by some of the staff in the ward. Andrew was diagnosed with Batten's Disease and the family are very grateful for the care he receives on the ward and wanted to fundraise so that children and their parents will benefit from these lovely gifts. Amongst the gifts donated was a special recliner chair which will enhance a hospital stay for parents of children with special needs or sick children. The toys have been donated to replenish stock in the Children’s Ward play/waiting area which is used all the time by children being admitted or coming to the ward for check-ups.
