1 In Winchester...

THIS Saturday at Winchester Science Centre will be an evening where adults are able to explore their own curiosity in science with full access to the hands-on exhibition floors.

The Hub Cafe and Bar will be open for drinks and light snacks.

Tickets: £12.50 per person (50% discount for annual pass holders). All guests must be 18 or over.

As with all planetarium shows, these include large moving images which may affect people with photosensitive epilepsy, balance disorders and/or extreme motion sickness.

HEAD over to Manor Farm this weekend for a host of fun festive activities including Elf Training School, The 12 Days of Christmas Trail and Christmas crafts.

There will also be a very special visitor as Father Christmas will be calling in at the farmhouse for a chat and a sing-song.

4 In Beaulieu...

TRAVEL back in time and visit the Victorian Montagu family home this festive season.

Experience the beauty of a traditionally decorated country home at Beaulieu, as the house is buzzing with excitement and Christmas magic as festive preparations step back in time to 1889.

Visitors can watch family members, played by costumed actors, as they rehearse Cinderella for the house pantomime.

Soak up the festive atmosphere with Christmas trees in every room of Palace House, with a towering 20ft-tall tree as the impressive centrepiece in the main hall.

5 In Romsey...

IT'S the Winter Wonder Floral Display at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens over the weekend.

Showcasing striking bark and scented flowers, this display will be a welcoming sight in this colder month.

Early bulbs will also feature in the display at the festively decorated Jermyn's House.

Free but garden admission fees apply.

6 In Winchester...

THE Waynflete Singers will be at Winchester Cathedral on Saturday.

Sir Edward Elgar’s mighty oratorio presents a moving portrait in sound of Jesus’s disciples and the life of the early church.

Peter is made the focus of the work and musical highlights include the Pentecost scene, and Mary’s sublime solo ‘the sun goeth down’.

This is a magnificent work with Elgar’s typically beautiful and expansive orchestration and lyrical choral lines.

7 In Hursley...

USING many previously unpublished accounts, photographs and film this is a unique opportunity to discover Hursley Park – to see where many of the iconic Spitfires were designed, find out what designing the Spitfire involved and discover the stories behind the men and women who made it possible.

The exhibition also includes how, during the 1950s, Supermarine faced the new challenges of the ‘Cold War’ and jet aircraft before, reluctantly, leaving in 1958.

This event is being hosted in aid of the Mayor of Winchester Charities and the exhibition is open from 11am until 4pm with last admission at 3.30pm.

THE Ginchester Christmas Market on Saturday is a celebration of diverse spirits, local and craft, from gin to whiskey, and vodka to rum.

For just £15, you’ll receive a festive drink on arrival plus a Cabinet Rooms ISO tasting glass (used by the pro’s), which you can use to taste your way around the stands.

There will be ample opportunity to stock up for party season as well as pick up a Christmas gift or two… perhaps even for yourself.

Enjoy a bite to eat and visit the Cabinet Rooms bar, which will be serving up cocktails and festive G&Ts to help you get in the Christmas spirit.
