SIX new houses could be built on the site of a former family home on a Durrington estate if plans are given the go-ahead.
The scheme, for the plot in Pinckneys Way, would see three pairs of semi-detached homes constructed on the half-acre plot, which is currently occupied by a single house.
Twelve car parking spaces will also be created on the site – two for each house, as well as two new access points which will lead on to Stonehenge Road.
The plans, submitted to Wiltshire Council by applicant D Quest, would include the demolition of a four-bed bungalow to make room for the new homes.
Neighbours have already started to have their say on the plans, with the four currently submitted letters all objecting to the scheme.
One local, Colin Tulley, argued that the proposals were not in keeping with the village, and also questioned the amount of car parking spaces per home.
He added: “Another concern will be more cars which will mean parking on the road and inconveniencing the residents.”
Neighbours Martyn and Emma Armstrong added: “We recognise the need for sustainable housing but the development of a brown field site within a village such as Durrington must be in-keeping with the local environment and must not adversely affect the privacy, security and standard of living of the residents in the surrounding properties.”
Other issues raised by objectors included access, privacy, road safety, and noise and light pollution.
Views are currently being sought on the development until February 3.
A meeting regarding the development is due to be held tonight by Durrington Town Council in the village hall.
It starts at 6.45pm.
