VOLUNTEERS are being sought to monitor and operate the city's digital CCTV and radio system.

Jointly funded by Salisbury City Council and Salisbury BID, Salisbury CCTV has been operating the CCTV system since September 2018, when it was passed from Wiltshire Council.

A team of volunteers monitor the CCTV system at key times in the communications hub inside the CCTV control room at Bourne Hill.

Richard Goodman, CCTV manager, said: “We have recruited and trained two groups of volunteers in the last year, and they are doing a great job.

“We now have capacity to train a further 12 volunteers.

“If you have good communication skills, are able to work to a high standard under pressure and are committed to Salisbury’s security and public safety, then we’d love to hear from you.”

Volunteers are asked to commit to 16 hours a month and will be trained to a professional standard and work within a strict code of practice.

They will also work with many City partners including ShopWatch, PubWatch, City Wardens, and Salisbury Police.
