Police officers arrested two women following reports of a "bogus" charity collection in the Irvinestown area last Thursday (January 30).

A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) stated: "On Thursday, January 30 at around 6pm, Police received reports of a bogus charity collection alleging to be collecting on behalf of Children’s Cancer and Ballinamallard Football in the Irvinestown area. Police attended and made two arrests of the females involved in the Brownhill area of the town."

Appealing for assistance in this matter, the PSNI spokesman added: "If you were scammed out of money and would like to help the Police investigation by making a statement, please get in touch via 101 quoting reference 1514 of 30th January 2020 and I will be in touch."

"Your assistance will help prevent this from occurring again," the PSNI spokesman concluded.
