Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in a meeting held last night at the Townhall in Enniskillen, voted to increase the district rate for homeowners by 2.79 per cent.
How this will affect rates bill for the coming year will not be clear until Stormont set the regional rate, which is expected to happen next month. District and regional rates are combined to formulate the final rates bill for homeowners.
However, the decision by Councillors to raise the district rate by 2.79 per cent represents a larger hike than last year, where the district rate rose by 2.3 per cent.
Last year Strormont raised its regional rate by five per cent and a similar rise this year would see homeowners experience a total rates rise of over four per cent.
