Nathan Carter and his band performed a live concert via Facebook in aid of two important charities.

On Friday, March 20 at 7pm, audiences were able to enjoy a set of songs live-streamed by Nathan, in the comfort of their own home.

Speaking to The Impartial Reporter about the success of the online concert, Nathan said: “It went better than we thought it would.

We had a few issues with the internet connection but for our first time doing it, it was a big success.”

Nathan explained that originally him and his band had planned to do the online concert “just for a bit of fun” and to keep fans entertained online. However, after some thought they decided to use it as a fundraiser in aid of Pieta and Enniskillen Foodbank: “We did it for the two charities and it was a great success.”

Sharing why he chose to support Pieta, who provide free therapy to those engaging in self-harm, with suicidal ideation, or bereaved by suicide, Nathan said: “Suicide is such a massive thing over the last few years, especially in men and young men as well at that, it’s a thing that I think needs as much highlighting as possible.

They were the first ones that came to mind when we said we were doing the Facebook Live for charity.”

“So far we’ve raised just under £3,000 for Pieta. The Foodbank's link was for a Paypal so you could only donate via Paypal. You can’t see how much people donated, so we’re not sure how much was donated for their charity, only they will know that,” Nathan explained adding how grateful he was of the charitable effort during this time.

“Money is very tight at the minute, as everybody knows, some people gave €300/400 which I couldn’t believe and then there were others gave a fiver which means so much at this time,” Nathan shared.

Chatting about the format of the concert, Nathan said:

“It was myself and five lads out of my band and we were actually in the recording studio that day anyway, we did it live from the recording studio in Tipperary and we had a reach of 120,000 people on Facebook and there was always more than 4,000 at any stage watching continuously which was really, really good,” shared Nathan.

When asked by this newspaper if he had any plans to host some more online concerts, Nathan said:

“Obviously with the way things are at the minute, we have cancelled over two months of gigs and to be honest it was great to be able to do something for the fans.”

“In the next few days it seems that things will be taking a turn more for the worst with the lockdowns and so forth but who knows up ahead. If we’re allowed to do it up ahead I would like to do it again for sure,” said Nathan.

As everyone is encouraged to stay at home during the pandemic, Nathan told this newspaper how he plans to spend his time:

“At the minute I’ve been writing a few songs, as well as that I’m doing some work to the house. I’m not a keen gardener to be honest at all but I’m out doing a bit of gardening.”

“In the midst of that, I’m tucking into a good few new Netflix series as well,” Nathan added.
