Rainbows, a symbol of hope, are appearing on windows of homes across the county as children get artistic to spread cheer.

Leda Fry and her daughter Bella decided to paint rainbows on their windows after they seen others do so on Facebook. “We thought it was a fab idea. We put them there to cheer people up in this awfully scary time and also to show others that there’s always a rainbow after the rain, we’re all in the same boat and all in this together,” Leda told The Impartial Reporter.

Sharing that his daughters Faith and Theia wanted to paint the biggest rainbow they possibly could for everyone to see, Stephen Henry from Lisbellaw said: “It might put a smile on someone’s face during this awful time.”

The He family run the Lucky House Chinese Takeaway in Newtownbutler where they painted rainbows on the windows. Becky He said: “We have decided to let kids in the area send artwork to our windows to give them something to smile at when they’re walking past on their daily exercise. We’ve chosen rainbows because there is light at the end of it.”

“We hope that the community will pull through this together,” she added.

Leanne Veitch and her daughters Tyla and Kaci-Leigh painted a sign featuring rainbows “to make everyone feel happy”. She added: “My auntie works in SWAH so my five year old Tyla said it would be for her and her friends.”

Showing support for the NHS heroes and all the people on the frontline, Paula Campbell’s daughters Kacie and Ava painted rainbows on their windows. “It’s a symbol for brighter days ahead,” Paula shared.
