The Western Health and Social Care Trust has set up Doctors’ Hubs for South West Acute Hospital and Omagh Hospital, The Impartial Reporter has learned.

The hub is for Trust employed doctors and locums employed in the South West Acute and Omagh sites and associated specialities.

Staff were informed of the development in an e-mail which has been seen by this newspaper.

According to the communication, the hub is made up of admin and clinical staff across grade and specialities and aims to be a central point of contact for reporting illness for doctors while also: arranging staff testing if appropriate for doctors, managing the rota across all medical wards, monitoring rota hours in Covid areas and non-Covid areas for doctors on the medical rota and providing support to doctor teams to signpost for accommodation.

It also aims to be a central communication system which will provide daily newsletters of important information for medical staff, a mechanism of feedback and escalation of urgent issues/concerns and sign posting to psychological, spiritual and emotional support over the coming weeks.

“We can arrange testing and are a point of contact for doctors not on the medical rota, but who are doctors in the South West acute team,” said the e-mail.
