Music could be heard across the village of Ballinamallard as members of the community showed their appreciation for local health workers by playing their instruments during the weekly ‘Clap for Carers’ last Thursday (May 7).
Residents of Brien Crescent in Ballinamallard have erected a rainbow flag emblazoned with ‘Thank you NHS’ to show their support for frontline workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Just after the applause at 8pm, Jamie Keys and Brian Armstrong (flutes) along with Leanne Humphries (snare drum) gathered beneath the flag to play a rendition of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’. They were accompanied by Leanne and Brian’s son Freddie who also played a drum.
At the flagpole in the village, Ballinamallard Silver Band congregated, but maintained a social distance, to perform music to pay tribute to the NHS and essential workers at this time. On the night they played a selection of hymns including ‘Amazing Grace’.
