The Department of Health has released its daily figures with seven more people losing their life to Covid-19 while in the Fermanagh and Omagh District the number of people with positive tests rose by one to 80.  

The Department’s figures bring the total number of people who have died and who had tested positive for Covid-19 to 501. The total number of people who have died is significantly higher as the Department’s figures does not cater for people who had not tested positive for the virus but who did have Covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate.

As of May 8, there were 167 additional deaths that fell into this category according to statistics from the Norther Ireland Statistics and Research Agency. These figures are released every Friday and run one week behind. Figures due to be released tomorrow will be for up to May 15.

According to Department figures Fermanagh and Omagh continue to have the lowest number of positive cases across Northern Ireland with 80 while there have been 1,772 individuals tested in the district area. Derry City and Strabane District have the next fewest cases with 163 and have tested 2,771 people.

In Belfast there has been 9,903 people tested with 1,294 positive tests.

Combining both the Department’s figures and those of NISRA there have been 16 Covid-19 related deaths in the Fermanagh and Omagh area.
