The Department of Health (DoH) have reported eight further deaths in Northern Ireland relating to Covid-19, today (Wednesday).

It brings the total number of confirmed deaths as of June 3 to 534.

Two of the deaths reported occurred in the previous 24 hours while six of the deaths reported occurred outside of the current reporting period which was from 10am on June 2 to 10am on June 3.

None of the deaths were in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area and there have been no further positive cases in the district.

In the last 24 hours eight people have tested positive for Covid-19 out of 888 individuals tested. It brings the total in Northern Ireland up to 4,740. 

There has been a drop in the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in care homes from 71 to 68 according to the statistics which are published daily by the Department of Health.

The latest statistics from the Department of Health are mainly from hospital fatalities where a person has tested positive.

Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) data shows death toll reached 716 by May 22 and this includes care homes/ in the community/hospice and hospitals.

Fermanagh and Omagh is still the least affected area with 10 deaths confirmed, however the NISRA reported there were 16 deaths in the district up until May 22.
