Staff Nurse Kadisha Lagan, who works as part of the Community Children’s Nursing Team at the South West Acute Hospital has written a special poem for the children and families her team cares for, thanking them for their support during the pandemic.

A spokeswoman for the Western Health and Social Care Trust said: "Our Children’s Community Nursing Team at the South West Acute Hospital are really missing interacting with children and parents in the local community. Kadisha Lagan wrote a beautiful poem for our little heroes ‘Your Nurse dressed in blue’ which will be posted out to the families who the Team care for to thank them for their support during the global Covid-19 pandemic and to say they are missing seeing ‘their little heroes’ reach their milestones."

Your Nurse dressed in blue

Hello from your Nurse dressed in blue

and we hope you are all keeping well.

We wish this bug would go away,

but for now we just cannot tell.

We are still your Nurses dressed in blue,

who are keeping busy with a thing or two.

We love chatting to your Mummies and Daddies on the phone,

who are still trying to learn that thing called ‘School at Home’.

We miss calling out at your house and seeing how clever you have become,

but remember your Nurses dressed in blue don’t forget our little Heroes and Yes that is YOU!

We hope to see you soon and see how big and SMART you have got,

but for now your Nurses dressed in blue are sending all our Love from the bottom of our heart.
