A man in his 40s has required medical treatment for wounds to his face and arm which he sustained when he was attacked in Irvinestown during the early hours of last Thursday morning (July 23).

A spokeswoman on behalf of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) stated: “Police are investigating a serious assault that occurred in The Commons, Irvinestown, between midnight and 12.30am on Thursday, July 23.

A male in his 40s was walking through the area at the time with his dog when he was attacked. As a result he has sustained wounds to his face and arm, which have required medical treatment.”

“Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to get in touch on 101 quoting reference 1084 of 23/07/20,” the PSNI spokeswoman concluded, in a statement.
