Monea Castle reopened this week following uncertainty as a member of the public was previously told by the Department of Communities that it would not reopen due to the pandemic.
The concerned member of the public told The Impartial Reporter last week: “I am curious as to what is happening as I do not seem to be getting a straight answer.”
Earlier this week, this newspaper contacted the Department for Communities to enquire if Monea Castle would be reopened. A Department spokesperson said: “Monea Castle reopened on Monday, July 27 2020. Opening hours initially will be Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm. Visitors are advised to check the Monea Castle page on discovernorthernireland.com for further updates on opening hours before visiting the castle. Monea Castle is one of 190 Monuments looked after by the Department for Communities.”
