LISNASKEA singer Bethany Coulter has been featured in a special photographic series commissioned by Volunteer Now, entitled ‘Ordinary People - Extraordinary Times Photographic Series’.

As the lead organisation for promoting and supporting volunteering in Northern Ireland, Volunteer Now's new photographic series captures the work of volunteers across all six counties who are helping local communities in need throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bethany is a professional singer and music teacher who, whilst on furlough from her part-time job, decided to get involved in the ‘Fun and Fitness Project’ run by Oak Healthy Living Centre, based in Lisnaskea.

The project brought outdoor singing and dance classes to local residents and provided communities with the opportunity to come out of their homes to exercise, safely socialise with their neighbours, and have fun in these uncertain times.

Bethany travelled to different villages and estates across Fermanagh to host the half-hour dance classes.

Speaking about the experience, she said: “It was very fulfilling to spend my time doing something that benefitted the community and helped to take people’s minds off the pandemic.

"Even in the toughest of times, laughter is one of the best medicines, so it was great to be a part of something so special that gave people a really enjoyable distraction.”
