There are currently eight people in the South West Acute Hospital Covid-19 ward. An increase of two from yesterday. This figure comes as positive Covid-19 cases across the district increased by 36 in a day.

The number of positive coronavirus cases in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area has almost doubled in the last seven days according to the latest update from the Department of Health.

In today's update, testing in the last seven days from October  1 to October 7  has seen 204 new cases compared to 85 new cases in the previous seven days from September 22 to 28. The seven-day rate has increased from 72.8 per 100,000 to 174.6 per 100,000.

34 were in people aged 19 and under; 96 between the ages of 20 and 39; 38 aged between 40 and 59; 31 between 60 and 79 and five aged 80 and over.

In the last 24 hours, the increase of 36 cases in the Council area has brought the total to 555 across Fermanagh and Omagh.

Across Northern Ireland 923 people tested positive for the virus bringing the total to 17,110.  4,674  have tested positive in the last week.

There was one further death recorded in Northern Ireland with the total now at 587, Fermanagh and Omagh has recorded 11 deaths, according to the Department of Health; however, the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) reported there were 17 deaths in the district up until September 25.

The latest statistics from the Department of Health are mainly from hospital fatalities where a person has tested positive.

NISRA data shows the death toll reached 901 people by September 25 and this includes care homes/in the community/hospice and hospitals.

The new data collection by the department refers to both Health and Social Care Trust Laboratory completed tests (Pillar 1) and National Initiative Laboratory completed tests (Pillar 2).

The Western Health and Social Care Trust has had 32 admissions and 15 discharges for Covid-19 in the last two weeks.

There are currently 15 ICU Covid-19 beds occupied in Northern Ireland, with eight people currently on ventilation due to the virus. There are 120 Covid-19 inpatients across the whole of Northern Ireland.

There are 35 confirmed Covid-19 outbreaks in cares homes across Northern Ireland.
