IN THE absence of a live premiere due to ongoing Coronavirus restrictions, Fermanagh filmmaker Paddy Duffy released his debut feature-length film, ‘Longdon’, on YouTube this week.

A recent graduate in Film Studies and Production from Queen’s University, Belfast, Paddy created the film through his own production company, Cat’s In The Cradle Productions, over three years, which has been concurrent with his studies.

Not only did Paddy produce and direct the film himself, he also stars in the production, in which he is joined by a number of well-known local actors, including John Kane and Paul Doherty.

‘Longdon’ is based on themes from the Falklands War in 1982, and has involved inputs from around 30 local actors and support crew roles.

The film was due to be premiered to a restricted audience at the IMC cinema in Enniskillen in late October, but due to Covid-19 regulations, the event was cancelled.

Instead, Paddy decided to launch the film online this week, releasing it on YouTube on Tuesday, December 1, where it is accessible to all.
