A 45-year-old man who made threats to kill against a woman has received a suspended sentence.

Michal Priebe, of Windmill Heights, Enniskillen, was convicted of the single charge at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard that on October 6, 2020 the defendant made threats against a woman to another person, telling them he would get someone from Poland to open her up and spill out her guts.

The victim also reported that at Cherrymount Roundabout in Enniskillen, as she was leaving her children to school, Priebe pulled out in front of her forcing her to brake and she believed he did it on purpose as he knew her vehicle.

Priebe denied the charges and said the threats to kill were made in "jest".

Michael Fahy, representing the 45 year old, said his client did not understand the severity of the statement albeit it was made to a third party and not the individual concerned but it was enough for the third party to believe the threats to be genuine.

Mr. Fahy said it was a "serious and grave matter" but asked for maximum credit to be given to his client for ensuring the victim did not have to come to court and also he apologised profusely.

Before convicting Priebe, District Judge Steven Keown said that the woman had reached out to provide help and support to another woman and had become the victim of a threat from the defendant.

Judge Keown said the main reason Priebe was not going to prison was because of his early plea and lack of previous record.

Priebe was handed a six month sentence suspended for two years as well as a two year probation order.
