COUNTRY Music is all about storytelling, with many subjects and themes appearing again and again through generations of singers and songwriters.

In a new six-part series – Nathan Carter’s Country Themes – beginning on Sunday, May 23 at 6.30pm on BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Sounds, the Fermanagh-based singer/songwriter picks out some themes and plays some songs that relate to them.

Nathan will be playing old and new songs, classic tracks and hidden gems from some of the world’s top Country music performers, covering everything from dancing and driving to faith and families.

Dancing is the theme of the first episode, so Billy Jo Spears will be waltzing, Brooks & Dunn will be line dancing, and Lee Ann Womack, The Chicks and Brad Paisley will all be on the dancefloor.

Nathan said: “I am absolutely delighted to be presenting this new six-part series and will be looking at some of the many themes from the world of Country music and playing plenty of great tunes, both old and new. So whatever you do, don’t miss the show, available on both BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Sounds.”

The series, produced by Jackie Neill, is a Headgirl Media Production for BBC Radio Ulster.
