THE Planning Committee of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council are to meet today (Wednesday) to decide on the future of the proposed Lakeland Retail Park.

Council planners have given the recommendation to refuse planning permission.
The plans submitted by Elim Garage are for a mixed-use retail and leisure development comprising five retail units with two garden centres, one indoor adventure play unit, a hotel, cinema, bowling alley, coffee pod, drive-thru restaurant, self-service pay at the pump station, and car parking spaces.
The site in question is the former Unipork site, east of the Cornagrade Road, that is now vacant.
This issue has been before the Planning Commitee before in December, when a decision on its future was deferred by the Planning Committee.
The full report on the decision by Planners can be read here.
Posting on the Lakeland Retail Park Facebook page, developer Frank Curran said: "Planners again have recommended to the Council’s’ Planning Committee to refuse our application.
"The Councillors [on the] Planning Committee can vote to approve this application and overturn the planning officer’s recommendation to refuse.
"We believe we have made very strong economic, planning and legal submission to the planning officer, which we obviously consider the planning officer should have recommended approval."
