PEOPLE who do not have any symptoms of Covid-19 are being encouraged to undertake regular rapid testing to help reduce the spread of the virus.

A temporary assisted test site is currently open at South West College, Omagh where people without Covid-19 symptoms can walk in (no appointment required) to undertake a test using rapid Lateral Flow Devices (LFDs).

The assisted testing site is open every day up to and including this Friday, July 9, from 10am-4.30pm.

Rapid LFD test packs are also available to collect from the Council’s ‘Connect Centres’ located at County Buildings, Enniskillen, and from Strule House, 16 High Street, Omagh, from Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm and from Lisanelly Avenue car park, Omagh, Monday to Sunday, 3pm-8pm, with tests undertaken at home.

Rapid LFD test packs can also be ordered online from www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests, with packs delivered directly to people's home.

The Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, said: “Up to one in three people who have Covid-19 don't have any symptoms and can spread the virus without knowing to family and friends.

"Rapid testing can help to detect cases and limit the spread of the virus. By making rapid LFD testing kits widely publicly available, we are being given the opportunity to play a crucial role in reducing the spread of the Covid -19 virus so that a return to normality and the prospect of brighter days ahead can be brought forward.

"I would urge everyone to avail of these test kits and play their part in moving forward safely together."

Such test kits are also available for workforce testing, available to small businesses with 10 employees or less, with staff unable to work from home, by completing an expression of interest form available on the Covid-19 page on Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s website at www.fermanaghomagh.com.

Businesses with 10 employees or more can register for LFD testing kits from the Department of Health at www.health-ni.gov.uk/rapid-tests.

Anyone who gets a positive LFD test result should self-isolate and book a confirmatory PCR test at one of the testing sites within the district immediately, and follow the advice thereafter.
