REPRESENTATIVES from Balcas recently completed a unique challenge to raise money for the Aisling Centre in memory of the late Erne Jones.

Recently some 30 members of #TeamBalcas completed a circuit of Enniskillen town by hydrobike in aid of the charity that provides counselling, psychotherapy and well-being services locally.

“It was a unique challenge for us to undertake, and after so many months of not being able to fundraise as a team, it seemed fitting to get our feet a little wet,” said Roisin McManus, who organised the event.

“It was really heart-warming to see local businesses come forward and play their part too.

"Erne Adventures and Pat’s Bar both donated their costs associated with the event, and I think that shows just how important mental health matters to everyone now.”

Erne’s sister, Emer Jones, also paid tribute to the support shown by the local community in helping raise awareness as well as their generosity.

She said: “It is great to see such a small tight-knit community come together to raise awareness for such an important cause.

"I would like to thank everyone who donated and participated in the fundraiser.

"The funds raised will go to a tremendous charity that works very hard within our community.”

The current total is sitting at just over £4,500 but will remain open for another couple of weeks for anyone still wishing to make a donation at https://localgiving.org/fundraising/BalcasRocksTheLough/.
