A temporary post office premises is believed to have been found for the relocation of the Enniskillen town centre branch following the closure of the previous branch at Townhall Street near the Diamond.

The post office branch that had been located in Loane's Costcutter in the centre of the town closed at the end of August, along with the shop itself.

However, speaking to The Impartial Reporter this week, Noelle McAloon, Enniskillen BID Manager, said that the Post Office will open a new temporary branch at Erneside Shopping Centre "in the coming weeks".

She told this newspaper: "BID helped to secure the temporary premises for the new postmaster, Stephen Henry, from Lisnaskea Post Office.

"We initially assisted with looking for a location on the High Street, but unfortunately there was nowhere suitable.

"I understand that it will open in the coming weeks, which is great news for consumers and businesses in Enniskillen."

Noelle went on to say that Enniskillen BID will assist with getting the message out that the temporary post office will be located at Erneside "until a permanent solution is found".

When asked about the new temporary location for the Enniskillen central post office branch, a Post Office spokesperson said: “We are working extremely hard to restore post office services to Enniskillen before the busy Christmas period begins.

"We know how much the local community rely on our services, and we will keep them updated with any news.”
