Organisers of the popular Enniskillen Spooktacular 5k say they aim to be back bigger and better than ever before in 2022 after it was confirmed that the event has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The Halloween run/walk event has grown into the largest night time event of its kind in Ireland and has become established as a firm fixture in the Fermanagh sporting calendar.

However, race co-ordinator, Dessie Elton, says that it is not feasible to have the event this year.

“The Spooktacular will not go ahead this year due to restrictions. We don’t want to have to limit the number of participants as we feel that would take away from what the event is all about so unfortunately we have had to cancel it for another year,” he said.

He does though stress that they are planning for a special Spooktacular in 2022.

“We are looking forward to the Spook being back in 2022. It will be our tenth Spooktacular and we believe that it will be back bigger and better than ever and we will keep everybody updated on developments,” he added.
