Children and staff at St. John the Baptist Primary School, Roscor, Belleek got creative to celebrate their start of year, deciding to hold a ‘Mass on the Grass’ event.
With some pleasant weather conditions, all involved enjoyed a lovely celebration of mass, with school chaplain Fr. John Kearns attending to lead prayers in the outdoor event.
All children participated in the celebration of the Eucharist, through song, prayer, readings and symbols led by the school’s P6/7 children and their teacher, Mrs. Edel Brown.
The school’s Principal, Miss Aideén McGarrigle, said: “It was a special occasion for the children to gather together to celebrate our faith and Christian values.
“We were also blessed to welcome Fr. Kearns to celebrate with us.”
Praising the children and staff for their initiative, and commenting on the outdoor mass, Fr. Kearns said: “This was the first time I have ever celebrated ‘Mass on the Grass’ and I feel honoured to do so.”
