A convicted paedophile has appeared in court charged with being in breach of his sexual offences order for the ninth time.

Robert John Liddle (73) of Moorlough Road, Lisnaskea appeared before Strabane Magistrates Court sitting in Omagh. He is charged with breaching his sexual offences prevention order (SOPO) for the ninth time.

He is charged with residing or staying overnight at an address without prior approval of his Designated Risk Manager.

Liddle was placed under the SOPO in 1999 after a serious sexual assault on a child. Further offending has occurred and in 2019, the SOPO was varied to include a condition banning him coming within 30 metres of any facility likely to be frequented by female children.

His eighth breach of the ordered occurred in June 2020 when a member of the public reported Liddle to the police after observing Liddle watching children swimming near jetties in Newtownbutler wearing bikinis.

His case was adjourned to be heard on November 26 at Strabane Magistrates Court.
