Derrygonnelly 0-15 Kinawley 2-09

Ruairi Corrigan slotted over a late point as Kinawley came from five down to draw with Derrygonnelly in the Mannok SFC semi-final at Brewster Park tonight.

Derrygonnelly appeared to be easing their way to a seventh consecutive final as they moved into a 0-13 to 0-08 lead with ten minutes left to play.

A Tomás Corrigan goal then brought Kinawley back to within two but the Harps answered with points from Gary McKenna and Conall Jones to lead 0-15 to 1-08.

However, a high ball from James Allen was touched to the net by Eoghan McManus to close the gap to one and Ruairi Corrigan, who was influential in the Kinawley fight back, then came with the equaliser to leave the sides having to do it all over again next weekend.

Derrygonnelly had come flying out the blocks as Conall Jones, Gary McKenna and Oisin Smyth rattled off points in the opening four minutes to make it 0-03 to 0-00.

Kinawley though started to settle into the game after this and with Eoghan McManus, Paul Breen and Tomás Corrigan among the points they were back on level terms at the water-break, 0-04 apiece.

Garvan Jones and Tomás Corrigan both kicked three points each for their respective sides in the second quarter but with Stephen McGullion and Garry McKenna also knocking over Derrygonnelly went in at the break with a 0-09 to 0-07 advantage.

With Ryan Jones prominent at midfield, it looked as though the Harps had taken control of matters in the period after half time and points from Stephen Gilroy and Garvan Jones  pushed them four clear.

Tomás Corrigan landed the Brian Borus opening point of the half from a free but Garvan Jones replied with a point from play to leave it 0-12 to 0-08 at the water-break.

And the lead was extended to five on the resumption as a flowing move was finished off with substitute Conor Burns firing over.

However, Kinawley were given hope when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Ruairi Corrigan and although Tomás Corrigan hit the bar, he was alert to gather the rebound and tuck the ball home to make it 0-13 to 1-08.

A Gary McKenna free and a Conall Jones point from play seemed to have Derrygonnelly back in charge but they were rocked by McManus’ goal and Corrigan then jinked his way forward before firing over to see the game finish in a draw.
