Enniskillen Post Office will reopen next Monday, November 15 at a temporary location, it has been confirmed today (November 8).
Following the closure of the post office branch at Townhall Street at the end of August, there has been no town centre service.
The Impartial Reporter recently reported that a new post office branch was to open temporarily at a unit in Erneside Shopping Centre following confirmation from a representative of Enniskillen BID.
Today, a spokeswoman for the Post Office confirmed the official reopening date. She said: "A temporary post office is planned to restore services to Enniskillen whilst we continue to look for a permanent solution."
Experienced postmaster Stephen Henry is opening the temporary replacement branch at Unit 14, Erneside Shopping Centre, on Monday, November 15 at 10am.
The Post Office spokeswoman continued: "This week, Stephen will be preparing the empty shop, based between Clinton Cards and Lakeland, ready for the opening.
“Parcel packaging materials will also be on sale. The premises will have clear Post Office signage.
"There will be two post office counters and Stephen and two part-time staff will serve the community.
"The same Post Office products and services will be open as before, however, with the exception of the Lottery."
The opening hours will be Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm; and Saturday, 9am to 12.30pm.
Mr. Henry said: “I am from the area and I have worked in a number of post offices in the Enniskillen area, so I know how upset people were when Enniskillen Post Office had to close.
“I am very pleased that the town will have a post office again before the busy Christmas period begins. Customers will get a warm welcome.
“All the wide range of products and services that were available at the Enniskillen branch before will be available, except the Lottery.”
Janese Sung, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We are delighted soon be restoring a post office to Enniskillen.
“We fully recognise how much the community rely on having Post Office services, and we continue to seek a permanent solution. The vacancy is advertised on runapostoffice.co.uk.”
