A MAN has been convicted of common assault and possession of a Class-C drug after he was found fighting with another person.
On October 21, police were trying to locate Martin Ward (28), of Carran Crescent, Enniskillen, in relation to an incident at an address in Yoan Road, Enniskillen.
Ward was located at Crannog Way fighting with another individual, and despite a police presence continued to fight until he was pulled away.
While Ward was in the police vehicle a quantity of tablets were located in the footwell by his feet. He confirmed they were Pregablin and that he had found them and kept them.
Ward was interviewed about what happened and he told police the last thing he could remember was walking home and two men jumped out of a car and attacked him.
They made off before police arrived, and he did not know why they had attacked him.
Concerning the drugs, he said they must have fallen out of his pocket.
Michael Boyd, Ward’s barrister, said his client entered a plea to move on.
District Judge Steven Keown handed down a one-month prison sentence, with Ward having time served.
