ELO are back in the Ardhowen. After a Covid enforced absence of two years they’re finally returning to the stage in front of a live audience. This year the group presents, The Show Must Go On, a joyous and uplifting revue, featuring some of the greatest numbers Broadway and the West End have to offer.

This eighteen months have been hard for everyone, and ELO felt that this years production should celebrate the human spirit as only great musical theatre can. The production team have put together a fantastic show packed with light and shade, song and dance, laughter and tears.

Director John McCann told us about the thoughts behind this years show. He said: “The past year and a half have shown us all how much we need the arts in our lives and how much we need human contact. We wanted to put together a show that celebrates that and showcases the best of musical theatre. Most of all we want to give everyone a fun and uplifting night. We’ve music and dance from Mamma Mia, Beauty and the Beast, Wicked, as well as Les Miserables and of course my personal favourite, Hamilton. And a lot more besides. We’re all very excited to get back on stage and this is going to be a brilliant show.”

“We’re all still living in the shadow of the pandemic, and it hasn’t been easy bringing the show together. The cast and production team have been fantastic however. Everyone has been taking lateral flow tests before every rehearsal, that’s three times a week tickling the back of the tonsils, not much fun. In our rehearsal rooms we’ve been keeping doors and windows open for ventilation which has been more than a bit chilly as we’ve advanced through the autumn. But everyone has taken the precautions on board and we’ve stayed safe and kept the production on track. It’s hard, but it’s so good to be back and we cannot wait to bring the show in front of live audiences again.”

The Show Must Go On promises to be an exuberant and joyous celebration of the best of musical theatre. All in all, the perfect start to Christmas and the antidote to the lockdown blues. The show runs from Wednesday December 1 until Saturday December 4 in the Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen.
