There was no holding back for the brave swimmers from the Newtownbutler area who made quite the splash at the Galloon Charity Swim on New Year’s Day.

With Covid-19 putting the 2021 dip on ice, the participants made sure they were not going to miss out this year in what is always a popular event.

Around 40 brave swimmers of all ages tested the waters around Galloon Island last Saturday.

The frigid waters did not deter them, as can be seen from the photographs showing plenty of enthusiasm despite the cold conditions.

It was all for good causes as the swimmers raised money for The Oak Healthy Living Centre, Lisnaskea and Parkinsons Support Fermanagh – the two charities missing out last year due to the restrictions in place.

Organisers of the swim paid a big thanks to Fermanagh Search and Rescue who ensured everyone got in and out of the water safely, and also to the swimmers who took part, as well as to anybody who made a donation.

They also paid tribute to the chosen charities who do such great work.
