Ulster and Ireland winger Robert Baloucoune was yesterday named in Ireland’s 37 man squad for the Guinness Six Nations which gets underway on February 5 with a home game against Wales.

Baloucoune made an impressive return from injury as he played a major role in Ulster’s 24-20 win over Northampton Saints in the Heineken Champions Cup at Franklin’s Gardens on Sunday.

The result was enough to secure Ulster’s place in the last 16 of the competition, with Fermanagh man Baloucoune among the scorers for Dan McFarland’s side.

Baloucoune was heavily involved in the early stages of the game as Ulster ran in two tries in the opening 15 minutes.

He registered the first try of the day as he picked up the ball from the base of a ruck to dot down before then setting up scrum half Nathan Doak for the second as Ulster opened up a 12-0 lead.

At half time, Ulster led 19-10 and they held off the home side in the second half to seal the win and their spot in the knock-out stages of the competition.
