The PSNI are appealing for information following a deliberate fire which caused criminal damage to an Enniskillen playpark.

Emergency services attended the fire on Sunday evening, July 3, in the vicinity of Lisgoole Park, Enniskillen.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police received a report of criminal damage within the vicinity of Lisgoole Park, Enniskillen at 9.45pm on Sunday, July 3. Officers attended the area where a fire was located in the nearby play park.”

Sergeant Hamill said: "Police believe the fire was deliberately started by youths in the area burning rubber matting from the surface area of the play park. No youths were in the area when officers arrived.

NIFRS confirmed that one fire appliance attended the incident on Sunday night, a spokeswoman said: “Firefighters were called to rubbish on fire. They used one jet to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 9.18pm and the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate ignition.”

Appealing for footage and information, a PSNI spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information or footage in relation to this incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1652 of 03/07/22."

“Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
