An innovative cattle competition being launched at this year's Fermanagh County Show is the Breeding Heifer Derby sponsored by Lakeland Veterinary Services.
This competition is open to all farmers from Fermanagh and Tyrone who are currently participating in the DAERA Business Development Groups. They are invited to enter a homebred economically viable breeding heifer with potential to produce and rear a calf of good confirmation suitable for the current beef market.
If the Show organisers have large numbers of entries, a judge will qualify the best 12 breeding heifers on farm and qualifiers will be exhibited in pens at the Final on Show Day, Wednesday, 3rd August.

There is a lucrative prize fund of 1st £250; 2nd £150; 3rd £100.
