ONE of Ireland’s funniest men – Donegal comedian Conal Gallen – is back at the Ardhowen Theatre with his hilarious show on Thursday, July 28 at 8pm.

Conal has been entertaining audiences across the world for more than 30 years, so why not join him for what promises to be a night filled with laughter, craic and song?

There’s also music in another production at the Ardhowen, with all seats sold for Just Stage It Academy’s fun musical, ‘Annie KIDS’.

Based on the popular comic strip, and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, ‘Annie KIDS’ is performed by a local cast of youngsters who successfully auditioned to take part in the week-long workshop with the international award-winning school of performing arts.

Performances are on Saturday, August 6 at 4.30pm and 7pm.

That’s not the only musical in store – following the huge success of previous productions such as ‘Bonnie and Clyde’, ‘Curtains’, ‘Sister Act’ and ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’, Fermanagh Musical Theatre present ‘9 To 5 – The Musical’, with performances running from Wednesday, August 17 to Wednesday, August 24 at 8pm, plus a matinee on Saturday, August 20 at 3pm.

Inspired by the iconic 1980s film, and book by Patricia Resnick, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, ‘9 To 5 – The Musical’ is a story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era.

In it, pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot, and proving there’s nothing they can’t do, even in a man’s world ...

Staying with music, and the Ardhowen’s Summer Workshop programme continues with a week-long Rock School and Song-writing Camp for musical teens, tutored by professional musicians, headed up by Kila’s Dee Armstrong, running from Monday, August 8 to Friday, August 12.

Participants will learn songs in a band or group, write their own songs, and play a gig for the public at the end of the week in the Ardhowen theatre auditorium.

Also coming up is an adult workshop, Step Dancing with Mary McGuiggan, on Saturday, August 13 at 10am.

Mary is a traditional step dancer and for many years now has been teaching traditional step dance classes and workshops. In this workshop, she will teach steps from the dance called ‘Maggie Pickens’.

This is a very old dance which is believed to have been danced for well over 100 years in the counties of Donegal, Fermanagh and others.

Another upcoming workshop is the Community Tribal Drumming and Percussion Workshop, on Thursday, August 25 and Friday, August 26 at 10am. Facilitated by Marcella Gilligan, participants will have lots of fun playing music together and getting really creative.

Suitable for ages 16+, no experience is necessary, and all instruments are provided.
