Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has confirmed the return of fireworks display for Hallowe’en.

It has been three years since the last fireworks display was held in the Council area.

The Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to the display in 2020, while in 2021, time restrictions was cited as the reason for no fireworks, with the Council pursuing alternative smaller-scale family activities instead.

However, the skies above Enniskillen and Omagh will be filled with noise and colour this year.

A Council spokesperson confirmed: “Fireworks displays for Hallowe’en will be taking place in both Enniskillen and Omagh; however, the exact details are still to be confirmed.”

In other plans, the Council says it is currently working on plans for Christmas Lights 2022.

With the current energy and electricity costs crises, the Council was asked if there were plans to scale back any Christmas lights or displays in towns and villages across the district.

While not ruling anything out, the Council spokesperson said: “Christmas lights planning for 2022 is ongoing, and any further development and approval of plans will be reported via normal media channels.”
