A Newtownbutler man has been convicted of having no insurance and a defective tyre at Enniskillen Magistrates Court.
On July 9, 2022, police stopped a Honda motorcycle on Wellington Road, Enniskillen.
While speaking to the driver, Daire McCabe (20), with an address of Clones Road, Newtownbutler, they observed that the rear tyre on the bike was devoid of thread.
When they asked McCabe about this he replied: "I honestly hadn't checked in a long time. My own stupidity."
McCabe was then given seven days to provide his insurance details to the police.
On July 18, McCabe attended Enniskillen Police station with his provisional driving licence but had no valid insurance.
McCabe, who was representing himself in court on Monday, told the court the cancellation policy for his insurance went to an address he was no longer residing at.
For a defective tyre and no insurance McCabe was handed six penalty points and £375 in fines.
District Judge Steven Keown warned him that if he wanted to stay on the road he was on "very thin ice" and to make sure he was fully legal.
