Friends of the Cancer Centre’s Fermanagh Fundraising Group are calling on people across the county to join them at Castle Coole this Saturday, October 1 for a walk to raise money to support local families impacted by cancer.

The group is calling on people across Fermanagh to get involved and help raise money to support a cause close to the heart of many local people. The walk will start at 11am from the courtyard at Castle Coole, with registration open from 10.15am. People will then set off and take in the beautiful surroundings of Castle Coole, before returning to the courtyard for some light refreshments in the tea rooms.

Looking ahead to the walk Geraldine Corrigan, Chair of Friends of the Cancer Centre’s Fermanagh Fundraising Group, said: “We are really looking forward to the Castle Coole Walk this weekend and hope lots of people will join us and help raise vital funds to support the work of Friends of the Cancer Centre.

“This Saturday’s walk is very special to us as a group, as it is the first time we have organised an event like this in a few years and the first real opportunity we have had to come together and meet so many local supporters. It will be a wonderful day and most importantly, it will raise money to support families in Fermanagh and beyond.”

Friends of the Cancer Centre’s Fermanagh Fundraising Group has been an incredible source of support to the charity and since the group was created, it has helped raise over £870,000. The money raised by the group has been vital to the work of Friends of the Cancer Centre, which is dedicated to making a real and meaningful difference to cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland. The charity is here to enhance the quality of patient care and support through its life-changing and life-saving work, which includes funding additional

nurses, supporting local research and providing practical support, such as financial grants, which help families through a difficult time.

Recognising the wonderful support the charity receives from across Fermanagh, Community Fundraising Officer for Friends of the Cancer Centre, Sarah Wilson, told us:

“On behalf of everyone at Friends of the Cancer Centre, I would like to thank the members of the Fermanagh Fundraising Group and the people of Fermanagh for their wonderful support.

“The Castle Coole walk is set to be a great day. We know everyone enjoys a walk, a chat and a cuppa so please come along and support us. By lacing up your walking boots and joining us, you’ll be supporting so many others impacted by cancer across Northern Ireland.”

The sponsored walk will start at 11am from the courtyard at Castle Coole with registration opening from 10.15am.
