'Christmas on Canvas', the first official art exhibition to celebrate young artists from across Fermanagh was launched at the the Ardhowen Theatre on Friday, December 9.

The event was hosted by Fermanagh Art Club which held a series of Christmas themed art workshops at the end of November where the work for the exhibition was created.

Gail Turner, artist, teacher and founder of the Fermanagh Art Club, commented: “We have had more than 100 young artists from across Fermanagh come to our workshops. We want to bring the opportunity to create art to as many children as possible and to help them develop their own artist skills.

"Myself and fellow artist, Gergana Nikolova, coached participants aged seven to 14 years, during two hour workshops, sharing actual painting techniques that professional artists use when creating a painting on canvas.

"This art exhibition is a celebration of the young talent we have here in Fermanagh. Each piece is unique and shows off what children are capable of, when given direction. It is a privilege to be part of their artist journey. They showed focus and enthusiasm during the art sessions," she added.

The exhibition will be on display at the Ardhowen until the end of January. Fermanagh Art Club hold weekly workshops in Letterbreen and Irvinestown.
