The West End Teapots celebrated the festive season with a Christmas ‘Secret Santa’ coffee morning at the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen where they were greeted by a surprise guest.

Members of the group, which was started by Lorna Davison in 2019 to help combat loneliness, enjoyed a time of togetherness as they met on Monday, December 12.

A great morning was had by all as they socialised over tea or coffee, a mince pie and a scone ahead of Christmas. On the day, members were surprised by a visit from Santa Claus, and each received a gift.

The group also held a raffle, raising more than £100, which was donated to the Salvation Army Christmas Homeless Appeal.

“It was lovely to meet up again after a few months’ rest and everyone could relax and have a chinwag about family or Christmas plans,” said Lorna, adding: “As the [members] departed, they were all given a Christmas gift and card from Teapots group.”

The West End Teapots plan to return for the new year on Monday, January 9 from 2pm to 4pm at the West End Community Centre in Enniskillen.

On the afternoon, Eileen McGovern from Nuts About Nutrition will demonstrate the making of spelt bread and soup.

The informal, friendly group is open to males and females over the age of 60 who are lonely or alone. Those interested in becoming a member can contact Lorna at 0775 205 8966.

“Happy New Year 2023 to one and all,” added Lorna.
