An Irvinestown man charged with common assault aggravated by reason of involving domestic abuse following an incident with his mother has been granted bail.

Christopher Connors (21), with an address of Sallys Wood, Irvinestown, was arrested on January 28 following a report of a domestic incident.

The injured party told police her son was at home playing loud music and she had asked him to turn it down.

It was at this point where Connors allegedly became verbally abusive, and began hitting his door and striking the palm of his hand while continuing to insult his mother.

It was through these actions that the alleged victim felt in fear that she was going to be assaulted. Connors was arrested at 1.20am and denied the allegations against him, Enniskillen Magistrates Court heard on Monday.

Police objected to bail due to the likelihood of reoffending, but District Judge Alana McSorley granted Connors bail at an address approved by police. The case was adjourned to February 6.
