A great day was had by all who attended the One Yummy Mummy cookery demonstration hosted by the Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) of St. Ronan’s Primary and Nursery School in Lisnaskea.

Accompanied by her daughter, Lil’s, Jolene Cox entertained as she demonstrated a range of simple family-orientated recipes from her award-winning brand, One Yummy Mummy, at St. Ronan’s Parish Hall on Saturday afternoon (February 11).

“Jolene is a firm believer that the heart of the home is in the kitchen and our PTFA members took the heart of their kitchens out into the community which was met with great support from businesses and families alike,” said a member of the PTFA who was one of the organisers of the successful event.

Around 100 people attended the One Yummy Mummy cookery demonstration, which helped to raise more than £900 for the primary school.

“It was amazing – the kids got involved and we raised a good bit of money that will go back towards the school,” said the PTFA organiser, adding: “We had a great community response; we were very pleased with it.

“We did have quite a few families who weren’t able to attend, but gave donations as well, so that was fantastic.”

On the afternoon, as Jolene demonstrated, members of the PTFA and some of the schoolchildren followed along, creating delicious treats.

“We chose recipes from Jolene’s One Yummy Mummy cookbook and we made brownies and scones along with other bakes,” said the PTFA organiser.

“Swift’s Eurospar in Lisnaskea and Fraser’s Centra in Maguiresbridge donated all the ingredients for all the bakes that were made,” she added, noting the PTFA’s gratefulness to the local businesses for their support.

Thankful to Jolene, who did the demonstration for free whilst sharing her helpful cooking tips, the PTFA organiser said: “She also donated some of the prizes – we had One Yummy Mummy cook books, junior baking kits and a beautiful hamper.

“Jolene also had cook books on sale on the day and they sold out, but if anyone would like to order them, they are available from the One Yummy Mummy website.”

Following the event, there were a number of sweet treats leftovers, which the PTFA shared with the local community.

“We portioned them up, and we brought them to the children’s Mass on Sunday at Holy Cross. So we’ve shared the sweet treats around,” said the PTFA organiser.
