There was a great turn-out at Newtownbutler Community Centre last weekend for a ‘Mr and Mrs’ fundraising event, with the event on Saturday proving a fun-filled hit with the audience and participants.

Organised by the Newtownbutler Community Development Association (NCDA), whose committee began planning the event last December as a way to continue to raise funds for community projects, the Mr and Mrs event was a way to bounce back with a ‘big’ event, following restrictions on community events during previous pandemic years.

The hosts on the night, Gregory Phair and Roisin Conlon, kept matters moving briskly along with plenty of laughs on the way, as six couples bravely stepped up to put their knowledge of each other to the test.

Winning couple Desmond and Noelle Melarkey ultimately claimed the trophy that had been kindly sponsored by Mohan Farm Services.

Adding to the community fun, a great raffle on the night was also a hit, with organisers thanking all those who had donated prizes for it

There was also a bar on the night, organised courtesy of Mulligan’s bar, with the NCDA also thanking the bar for their support.

NCDA was delighted with the support from community businesses, and by how well the highly-entertaining cross-community event was received, and looks forward to holding another Mr and Mrs event in 2024.
