Fermanagh-based Country music star Lisa McHugh has released her latest single.

‘I Quit’ was released last Friday, March 10, and follows a string of number-one hits for Lisa, including ‘Country Mile’, ‘About Last Night’, ‘Bad Idea’ and ‘Watch Me’.

Written with her good friends Katrina Burgoyne and Jake Anderson in Nashville, Lisa wrote ‘I Quit’ as the anthem for living life with a positive mindset.

Lisa said: “It [I Quit] is the song I’ve wanted to write and release for some time now. It’s about embracing ourselves, flaws and all, and to stop worrying about what other people think.

“It’s an empowering song, but with a tongue-in-cheek, fun twist to it.”

The single is described as having echoes of Shania Twain’s ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’, mixed with the 90s Country sound of legends Brooks & Dunn, and a leaning towards the piano genius of ‘Great Balls of Fire’.

Produced By Philip Magee (Kodaline, The Script), ‘I Quit’ has all the key elements of an upbeat Country classic.

From the solid drum shuffle and catchy bass line, to the rocking piano and 90’s Country guitar riff, it roars honky-tonk with a 2023 modern twist with the lyrics layered on top, and is sure to get toes tapping!
