A man who told police he was waiting on his driving licence when he was stopped, even though checks showed there was no record of this, has been convicted of a number of motoring offences.

Jamie Lee Armstrong (25), with an address of Beech Tree Lane, Tempo, was stopped by police driving a Honda Civic at the Cullion Road, Tempo on November 1, 2022.

When he was spoken to by police he informed them he was waiting on his licence; however, checks showed this was untrue, Enniskillen Magistrates Court heard on Monday.

Checks carried out also showed that there was no insurance policy in place and Armstrong had failed to disclose motoring convictions to the insurance company, the court heard. As well as this, the number plate on the car was an incorrect form of registration mark.

Armstrong’s solicitor, Michael Fahy, told the court his client had a policy in place per se, but it was negated by the insurance company cancelling it over the defendant’s failure to disclose his motoring convictions.

For using a motor vehicle without insurance, making a false declaration to obtain a cert of insurance, having no driving licence and having an incorrect form of registration mark, Armstrong received six penalty points and a total of £400 in fines.
