The confirmed candidates for the local Council elections have been confirmed, and in the four Fermanagh wards of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, 37 candidates have put their name forward for election (see panel, right). Out of those 37 people, only 22 will be elected to the Council after the elections on May 18.

In the Enniskillen DEA, there are six seats up for grabs, with 11 names going before the electorate.

There are a number of new faces, including Sinn Féin’s Dermot Browne and Andrea McManus, along with Eddie Roofe for the Alliance and Jill Mahon for the DUP parties.

Ulster Unionist candidate Roy Crawford, who replaced Howard Thornton, is also going before the electorate for the first time.

In Erne East, five seats are available. Independent candidates Eamon Keenan and Tanya McDermott are first-time runners. Councillor Keenan was co-opted on the Council to replace John McCluskey.

The Alliance Party have another new face here in Richard Bullick.

In Erne North, another Bullick, Eric, is running for Alliance. David Mahon returns for the DUP, having lost his seat to running mate Deborah Erskine in 2019. Sinn Féin’s John Coyle, who lost out to running mate Siobhan Currie in 2019, also returns in the ward.

Finally, in Erne West, Sinn Féin have two new faces in Elaine Brough and Declan McArdle, as do the DUP with Aaron Elliott; Alliance with Gerard McCusker; Paul McGoldrick as an Independent, and the UUP’s Mark Ovens.
