Fermanagh rider Lee Johnston has been airlifted to hospital following a crash during practice for the North West 200 this afternoon (Thursday, May 11) in Portrush.

The 34-year-old came off at the Church Corner section of the circuit during a qualifying session for the Supersport class on Thursday afternoon.

He was taken by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) along the track to York Corner, where he was then transferred by the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment for "non-critical injuries", it was reported by the BBC.

Confirming the above details, a North West 200 spokesperson added on Twitter: "The incident at Church Corner during today’s Supersport practice session has now been cleared."
