THE Fermanagh Environmental Impact Group has been praised by the country’s top environmentalist, Dr. David Bellamy for their work to preserve natural wildlife sites and a delicate ecology at a quarry site in the county.

The group met David Bellamy at an awards ceremony at Belfast Castle where they picked up the top prize in the Shell Better Britain Campaign for any project in Northern Ireland.

The Fermanagh Environmental Impact Group won the award for restoring the area around Boho Quarry which had become a much used dumping ground. The conservation group pulled out 30 cars from the mouth of the Boho caves beside the quarry as well as washing machines, tyres and other rubbish.
